Yogurt tastes great, but don’t finish the whole container—save some for your skin. According to an article on Yahoo Health, topical probiotics may be the next big thing to hit the skin care market. The American Academy of Dermatology has called probiotics a “beauty breakthrough,” due to studies that show they can help lead to a clearer complexion, in part by lessening skin sensitivity, redness, and inflammation. If you use yogurt as a topical cream, go with one that contains live and active cultures, such as Activia, or Goodbelly (a dairy-free choice). Also, keep an eye out for products with Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium, two specific probiotic strains known to benefit skin health. Prepackaged probiotic creams, such as the brand Tula, are also an option.
