Broiled Beef Steak with Cheesy Polenta
A garlicky beef top sirloin steak pairs wonderfully with the creamy Parmesan and mozzarella polenta.
Ingredients
- 1 boneless beef top sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick (about 1-1/4 pounds)
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp each salt and coarse grind black pepper
- Polenta:2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 Tbs grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup prepared spaghetti sauce, heated
Directions
- Polenta:Combine 1-2/3 cups water, cornmeal and salt in 1-quart microwave-safe bowl. Cover; microwave on HIGH 6 to 8 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons each mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese. Microwave, uncovered, on MEDIUM (50%) 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cover; let stand 5 minutes.
- Steak:Combine Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper; press onto beef steak. Place steak on rack in broiler pan so surface of beef is 3 to 4 inches from heat. Broil 16 to 21 minutes for medium rare to medium doneness, turning once.
- To Serve:Carve steak. Serve with polenta and spaghetti sauce.
