My Dad's Fried Oysters
Perfect fried oysters—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Ingredients
- 4 dozen shucked oysters
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning (or other Cajun or seafood seasoning)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Cocktail Sauce1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 Tbs horseradish
- 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Tabasco sauce, or more to taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Directions
- Preheat cooking oil to medium-high.
- Combine flour, cornmeal, and seasoning in a large bowl.
- Toss oysters in the flour mixture in batches to coat well.
- Fry oysters in hot oil just until golden brown.
- Mix together all ingredients for cocktail sauce and serve alongside oysters.
