Drug
Bimatoprost
Pronounced
"bye-MAT-oh-prost"
Uses
Bimatoprost is used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye diseases (such as ocular hypertension). Lowering high pressure inside the eye can help prevent blindness. This medication may work by helping fluid inside the eye to flow out, which lowers pressure inside the eye.
This implant may be placed only one time in each eye.
How to Use This Medication
This medication implant is placed in the eye(s) by a health care professional. After it is placed, stay upright for at least 1 hour so the implant can settle in place.
Most people with glaucoma or high pressure in the eye do not have symptoms. To monitor the effect of this medication implant, keep all medical appointments with your doctor.
