Uses

This medication is used to treat serious bacterial infections of the skin. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

How to Use This Medication

This medication is given by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually as one or two doses. If your doctor prescribes 2 doses, the second dose is usually given one week after the first dose. This medication should be injected slowly over 30 minutes. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Children's dosage is also based on age and weight.

If you are using this medication at home, learn all preparation and usage instructions from your health care professional and the product package. The solution is normally clear and colorless or yellow. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard medical supplies safely.

Infusion reactions may happen during the infusion of this drug if this drug is injected too fast. Tell your doctor right away if you have any symptoms of infusion reactions such as flushing of the upper body or back pain. Your doctor may slow down or stop your treatment for some time.

Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse.
