This medication is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Levofloxacin belongs to a class of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Levofloxacin injection is used if you cannot take the medication by mouth.

How to Use This Medication

Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using levofloxacin and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication is given by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually once a day over at least 1 hour. The dosage and length of treatment depend on your condition and response to treatment. Children's dosage is also based on weight.

For the best effect, use this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. To help you remember, use this medication at the same time every day.

Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
