Servings: 4
Cook Time: 30 min.
A garlicky beef top sirloin steak pairs wonderfully with the creamy Parmesan and mozzarella polenta.

Ingredients

  • 1 boneless beef top sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick (about 1-1/4 pounds)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp each salt and coarse grind black pepper
  • Polenta:2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Tbs grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup prepared spaghetti sauce, heated

Directions

  • Polenta:Combine 1-2/3 cups water, cornmeal and salt in 1-quart microwave-safe bowl. Cover; microwave on HIGH 6 to 8 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons each mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese. Microwave, uncovered, on MEDIUM (50%) 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cover; let stand 5 minutes.
  • Steak:Combine Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper; press onto beef steak. Place steak on rack in broiler pan so surface of beef is 3 to 4 inches from heat. Broil 16 to 21 minutes for medium rare to medium doneness, turning once.
  • To Serve:Carve steak. Serve with polenta and spaghetti sauce.
