Trade Associations: Dietary Supplements Cannot Cure or Prevent EbolaA coalition of five trade associations representing the dietary supplement industry has issued a joint statement that supplements cannot cure or prevent Ebola virus. The statement follows warning letters that the FDA sent to three supplement manufacturers; these manufacturers suggested their products could treat Ebola virus. While supplements can play a role in supporting general immune health, the joint statement makes it clear that Ebola virus is not a condition with which supplements can help. The trade associations that issued the statement are: American Herbal Products Association, Consumer Healthcare Products Association, Council for Responsible Nutrition, Natural Products Association, and United Natural Products Alliance.
